About the Artist

Matisse once wrote of his paper cut-outs, "I draw with the scissors." For artist Pat Rybovich, her 'drawing' is done -- sparks flying -- with an acetelyne torch.

Swirling lines, irregular planes and organic leaf and plant forms are characteristic of Rybovich's work, as she juxtaposes delicate, fragile botanical and organic imagery with hard, cold steel.

Often, her work is painted in hot, bright colors, as the artist splashed the pigment on in an abstract expressionistic manner. Other times, the steel is weathered and worn, revealing Rybovich's fascination for antiqued and patinaed surfaces of gold leaf and verdigris on weathered steel.

Her one-off work has been shown in fine art galleries throughout the country. Private collections of Rybovich work are found in the US and abroad. A limited-edition collection of her work has been featured in Spiegel. Neiman Marcus honored her with a one-man show.

Rybovich History
Native Floridian and daughter of the renowned sport-fishing yacht inventor, Tommy Rybovich, Pat has created a reputation of her own, based on her unique metal sculptures which explore nature: renewal and rebirth, botanical forms, the ocean and mysteries of the deep, the lifecycle of nature and the mystery of inner life.
